JOURNALISM IS IN TROUBLE. Printed media has experienced massive decline - with Facebook and Google offering a much better alternative advertising model. Newer strategies like sponsored content and pay-walls haven’t exactly worked out for many publishers too.

The social media revolution has led to the prioritizing of “fast content” that is addictive and shareable. With shrinking budgets, the time and resources given to reporters to produce and investigate stories have been reduced too

Increasing attacks against journalists, restrictive laws and internet censorship create immense barriers to fair and accurate reportage. The Reporters Without Borders index for media freedom has deteriorated by 12% since 2013.
